Job summary
The States of Guernsey are looking for a Occupational Health Clinic Nurse.
The post holder will support the delivery of a proactive, high-quality Occupational Health
Service to the States of Guernsey and associated clients. Following induction, training and
assessment, the post holder will deliver pre-placement screening, immunisation, health
surveillance and wellbeing activities within their competence and agreed departmental
protocols.
Main duties of the job
As a registered nurse, the post holder will exercise professional judgement and
manage their own clinical workload, recognising when specialist advice or escalation is
required. The role will contribute to safe, evidence-based practice, service improvement and
the prevention of work-related ill health.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
- Competence in venipuncture and administering vaccinations and immunisations.
- Ability to assess suitability, obtaining informed consent, awaiting the cold chain, and recognising and managing adverse reactions, in accordance with agreed protocols and appropriate authorisation.
- Ability to assess, prioritise and manage a clinical workload, work independently within competence, and recognise when specialist advice is required.
- Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills, with experience of effective team working and a professional, client-focused approach.
- Understanding of consent, confidentiality, data protection and clinical governance, supported by accurate record keeping and competent IT skills.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to maintaining professional registration and revalidation.
Desirable
- Experience in an Occupational Health setting, including immunisation health surveillance or workplace risk assessment.
- Relevant training or qualifications in immunisation, audiometry, spirometry, or other Occupational Health activities.
- Experience of audit, service improvement, teaching or supporting colleagues.
- Interest in developing a career within the service and undertaking specialist Occupational Health nursing study
Qualifications
Essential
- Graduate Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and relevant post – registration clinical experience
Desirable
- Relevant training or qualifications in immunisation, audiometry, spirometry, or other Occupational Health activities
