We are looking for a full time Pharmacist (40 or 42.5 hours), part time considered.

You can choose to base at either Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton) or Yeovil District Hospital.

Main duties of the job

As an Outpatient Pharmacist, you will lead the delivery of a high-quality, patient-focused pharmacy service at the Somerset Foundation Trust. Your responsibilities include ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines, providing expert clinical advice to healthcare professionals, and managing the day-to-day operations of the outpatient pharmacy.

You’ll supervise and develop pharmacy staff, maintain compliance with governance and GPhC standards, oversee audits and quality improvement initiatives, and support medicines management and service development. Acting as the Responsible Pharmacist, you will ensure timely supply of medicines, manage controlled drugs in line with legislation, and contribute to policy development and financial performance monitoring.

Essential

  • Full current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) in the United Kingdom.

Experience

Essential

  • Management experience within the hospital or retail pharmacy sectors.Experience of working effectively within a team.Experience of providing a high-quality pharmacy service.Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of clinical governance.Thorough understanding of the legislation which applies to the receipt, storage and dispensing of medicines.Comprehensive understanding of healthcare practices in primary and secondary care.Thorough understanding of the GPhC requirements for a pharmacist.Maintains a broad knowledge of clinical and pharmacy practice.Demonstrable commitment to CPD.
