Job summary

To act primarily as a Paediatric Allergy Nurse Specialist with an interest in Asthma. You will assess, plan, implement & evaluate individualised programmes of evidence-based care providing specialist advice to patients, carers/relatives, and the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to develop, support and improve services and quality of care delivered to children and young people.

The Paediatric Allergy Nurse Specialist will provide specialist education and nursing support to children and young people and their families / carers with allergy.

Encourage independence so that the young person can self-manage their allergy when appropriate, supporting safe and effective transition through to the adult services

Main duties of the job

The expectation is that the successful candidate will be primarily based at RLI to ensure that effective training, management, and supervision is provided during the training period.

The candidate will have the ability to travel as required to ensure that CYP receive a cross-bay service at RLI and FGH.

Experienced or willingness to lead on developing and managing nurse led clinics and services

Current knowledge, advanced clinical skills and experience of caring for children and young people with Paediatric allergy conditions.

Evidence of clinical competence and credibility in the speciality and relevant post-registration qualification experience which must be in an appropriate area of specialist practice at a senior level.

Willingness to develop current knowledge, advanced clinical skills and experience of caring for children and young people with Paediatric allergy and Asthma conditions.

Demonstrable basic and advanced clinical skills e.g: Venepuncture, physical assessment skills, skin prick testing, food challenges, and investigate blood tests.

Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others demonstrating effective time management and organisational skills and exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Up to date knowledge of the developments in appropriate area care underpinned by theory and experience.
