Job Summary

The Children’s Diabetes service at London Northwest Healthcare Trust covers the boroughs of Harrow Brent and Ealing. The team are seeking an enthusiastic experienced health care support worker to work alongside the paediatric diabetes specialist nurses, caring for with children with Type 1 insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and their families.

Main duties of the job

Working under the supervision of the Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurses the post holder will be responsible for a caseload of children starting on continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump technology. Care and support will be delivered at the hospital, in clinics, at school and home settings. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Education

Essential

  • Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent
  • NVQ level 3 of part 1` city and guilds care certificate
  • healthcare related qualification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • worked with children and families in a healthcare context
  • ability to work independently with delegated tasks
  • knowledge and experience working with ethnically diverse community
  • evidence of continued personal development
  • knowledge of children’s safeguarding practices

  • knowledge of diabetes management
