Job summary

We are looking to recruit a driven and enthusiastic dietitian, as a band 5 or 6 depending on skills and experience in this development role. The successful candidate will be supported in developing to a band 7 paediatric dietitian. You will join a supportive team of dietitians and dietetic assistants and become a key member of the paediatric multidisciplinary team providing care for children in both inpatient, outpatient and group settings.

Our paediatric caseload is varied including but not limited to: growth faltering, HEF, coeliac disease, cystic fibrosis, restricting eating, CMPA, weight management.

Main duties of the job

Summary for Band 5/6 development role: a development role ideal for a dietitian looking to build upon their dietetic skills and knowledge within the specialty of paediatrics, with the aim to progress to a specialist role following achievement of agreed competencies. To gain the skills and knowledge required to provide dietetic consultation + education to paediatric patients and their families and to work independently. Liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team and associated services.

Summary of Band 7 role: The post holder will provide a highly specialist dietetic service for a range of paediatric in-patients and outpatients. They will lead on the development of Paediatric Dietetic Services within Wye Valley NHS Trust and wider services in Hereford.

  • BSc/MSc/PGDip in Nutrition and Dietetics & Current HCPC registration

Desirable

  • BDA Member

Skills

Essential

  • Interest in Paediatrics
  • Working knowledge of common clinical conditions and best dietetic management
  • Able to be flexible and adaptable in terms of working hours and work location.
  • Able to plan and prioritise own caseload using time management skills.
  • Presentation and teaching skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Evidence of ability to use initiative but recognise limitations and seek help when necessary.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • Experience of teaching other healthcare professionals
