A vacancy has arisen to appoint a highly motivated, innovative and adaptable individual to join Children’s Epilepsy Service at Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
This post involves working as part of the team within a busy Paediatric Community Epilepsy service. The successful candidate will work as part of a Multidisciplinary Team, and includes but is not limited to undertaking home visits in the Bradford area, assisting in outpatient clinics, delivering patient and staff education and training.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload and will provide specialised nursing care, advice and education. They will need to demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of childhood epilepsy.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will also be expected support families at diagnosis and throughout the child and families’ journey, empowering them to be confident and competent with their condition.
We would welcome and encourage informal visits to our service.
To come and join our team you will need to have a good knowledge and understanding of childhood epilepsy and an aptitude to learn quickly, be a RSCN / RN (Child) and hold a recognised teaching/mentoring qualification. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, whilst reporting back to the Team leader; have a positive attitude and be keen to take on new challenges. You will need to possess excellent clinical and leadership skills, as well as clear and compassionate communication skills. IT literacy is essential.

- Post nursing registration experience, including experience working in the relevant clinical specialist area (Epilepsy)
- Experience of assessment, development and implementation of programmes of care for patients/carers/staff demonstrating knowledge of specific needs
Desirable
- Experience of working with Children and Young People with complex needs
- Experience in policy development
- Experience in clinical audit
- Change management experience
Skills
Essential
- Clinical skills specific to area of specialty
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Computer literate
- Proven skills in teaching individuals and small groups
Knowledge
Essential
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- Evidence of current CPD
Desirable
- Knowledge of change management processes
- Knowledge and understanding of application of relevant National Guidance e.g. National Bundle of Care, NICE Guidelines
- Comprehensive knowledge of the NHS national and Trust’s targets and priorities
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of the specific patient group
Qualifications

- Registered Nurse (Child)
- Teaching and assessing qualification eg. (ENB 998, SLIP, Practice Assessor Course)
Desirable
- Post registration qualification / training in area of clinical speciality
- Non Medical Prescriber or willingness to undertake
- CPD Courses applicable to specialism
