Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our community paediatric physiotherapy team. We are looking for a motivated individual who has experience of working with children and young people to join our growing team. We have a position available based within our special school in the Vale.
You will work as part of a therapies team being supported by the clinical lead for paediatric community physiotherapy, you will manage a small case load, support the running of classes and groups, orthopaedic clinics as well as equipment management.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be based in Ysgol Y Deri special school with the physiotherapy team. There will be opportunities to work in mainstream schools in the surrounding area and home settings.
Successful candidates will be required to:
- Assist with clinics
- Provide follow up rehab blocks
- Assist with hydro sessions
- Attend surrounding mainstream schools to provide equipment care and alterations
- Monitor and assess walking frame and gait equipment
- Admin duties including mainstream and community
- Assist with ordering and maintenance of equipment
- Assist with orthopaedic clinics, wheelchair clinics, rehab engineering clinics, orthotic clinics.
- Assist with physiotherapy provision within classroom settings in the Vale special school, including equipment management for complex children with specialist healthcare needs.
- Assist with postural management needs of children with complex healthcare needs, including positioning modalities in school and at home.
- Assist with home visits to provide care for equipment review, including standing frames, orthotic devices, sleep systems and specialist postural management packages.
- Work closely with MDT including, orthotist, education staff, nurses, OT, SALT and dietician.
- Be responsible for own caseload.

Qualifications
Essential
- Numerate and literate to GCSE level grades (A to C) or level 11 equivalent qualification or Recognised qualification NVQ/QCF level 4, equivalent level of knowledge or NVQ/QCF Level 3 PLUS. Additional training to Diploma level or equivalent, or equivalent through short courses and experiences and equivalent competencies achieved and evidenced through accredited courses
Desirable
- Evidence of further education e.g. relevant Health and Social Care qualification, Exercise Rehabilitation qualification , or other relevant qualification
Experience
Essential
- Health and/or Social Care experience Dealing with people both individually or in groups Worked within a rehabilitation setting
