Job summary

An opportunity has arise to provide a comprehensive Painting and Decorating and building fabric maintenance service to all wards and departments in a multi-disciplined environment, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.

Main duties of the job

  • As a Maintenance Technician, you will have a Painting and decorating background and will be able to carry out building fabrication preparation work and repairs on a range of estates structural and fabric components/elements with minimum supervision throughout the Trust.
  • You will be working on the full range of estates building finishes to resolve trade specific issues many of which have a direct impact on patient safety and the built environment.
  • You will be expected to be able to be work on a range of Painting and Decorating components in the Trust’s building portfolio, repairs and installation on a wide range of structural elements and equipment including internal walls, floors, ceilings, windows and doors, external areas and roofs.
  • You will assist with providing a comprehensive building service to all wards, back of house departments and corporate services working in a multi-disciplined environment, ensuring compliance with national statutory standards as well as Trust safety standards and procedures.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Post qualification experience working as a Painter/Decorator
  • Awareness of Health and Safety in a maintenance environment
  • Knowledge of COSHH

Desirable

  • Plastering Qualification and/or experience
  • Experience of working in an Acute Hospital/Healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of HTM’s, Building Regulations and Codes of Practice
  • Asbestos and Confined space awareness

Qualifications

Essential

  • City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Painting and Decorating (or a related discipline) OR National Vocational Qualification 2 (NVQ Level 2) Painter & Decorator
  • A recognised Health & Safety Awareness Training Certificate e.g. IOSH
  • Recognised Apprenticeship
  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence
