Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Pelvic Health Outpatient Physiotherapy team at North Bristol NHS Trust. Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is a growing and much needed specialty. We are looking for an excellent team player with an interest in pelvic health who is flexible, dynamic and open to change, to join our friendly and forward-thinking team.

The postholder will be working within the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy team covering outpatient clinics, self-management and education groups and tele consultations covering maternity and gynecology patients. There is occasionally a need to deliver advice to women on the maternity wards. There will be a mix of face-to-face patient contact and virtual contact (e.g telephone or video). There may be some requirement to travel to community settings and/or different sites for some sessions.

This role is a mix of clinical, administrative and practical tasks to support the Pelvic Health team.

Main duties of the job

To work as an integral and active part of the North Bristol Trust Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the physiotherapy team in the provision of a patient centred service, in an efficient and cost-effective way.

The post holder will work under the indirect supervision of qualified Physiotherapists in a variety of settings including: physiotherapy outpatients, physiotherapy gym, maternity inpatient units, virtual clinics from office spaces or home, and community centres. This will include 1:1 and group sessions, both virtual (video and telephone) and face to face.

The post holder will assist in the overall management of patients within pelvic health physiotherapy. This will include, but is not limited to, the following patient groups: antenatal (during pregnancy), post-natal (following childbirth), pre and post gynaecological surgery. And may involve management of the following conditions: pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction including incontinence and prolapse.

The role involves both direct patient contact and indirect patient related duties. It is also necessary to undertake some administration and departmental duties e.g. booking patient appointments, coordinating patient groups, supporting data collection, keeping patient documentation and managing stock and equipment.

Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • NVQ level 3 / appropriate level apprenticeship in care (or the desire to work towards).
  • Good standard of secondary education to GCSE level
  • Evidence of a continued desire to learn and develop self

Work Experience

Essential

  • Previous NHS or social care experience.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an NHS healthcare setting, preferably in rehabilitation
  • Sports or exercise rehabilitation background including exercise prescription and progression, preferably within a healthcare setting

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Essential

  • Demonstrate good communication skills, verbal and written
  • Essential IT skills
  • Demonstrate good time management including punctuality and ability to prioritise workloads
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience of undertaking general administrative duties
