Job summary

To ensure the efficient and timely procurement of medicines for the Northumbria Trust as a whole and to provide supervision and guidance to the Pharmacy Procurement Officers with emphasis on Homecare Medicines Service.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to all patients and customers.
  • To process orders and invoices and provide guidance and leadership to a team of procurement officers with an emphasis on Homecare Services.
  • To manage the workflow of the Pharmacy Homecare Team ensuring that prescriptions, invoices and queries are processed in a timely manner.
  • To work directly with the Pharmacy Technician Specialist for Medicines Homecare and help resolve issues when necessary.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics or equivalent numeracy and literacy skills.
  • NVQ Level 3 or CIPS Foundation plus knowledge of contract Law acquired through short courses and experience or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Management Qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft Expert qualifications or equivalent.

Experience and knowledge

Essential

  • Sound knowledge and experience of ordering, invoicing and contracting.
  • Experience of working with data bases and managing data.
  • Experience of service improvement and audit.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a pharmacy environment.
  • Team management experience.
  • Managing a service.
  • Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
  • Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
