Main duties of the job

About the Role

As a Band 5 Physical Health Nurse, you’ll work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care to residents. You’ll be involved in emergency response, screening, vaccination clinics, and nurse-led care delivery across the prison.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering safe, effective, and person-centred care
  • Conducting assessments, triage, and risk evaluations
  • Administering medications and maintaining accurate records
  • Participating in audits, clinical governance, and service improvement
  • Supporting junior staff and contributing to team development

Person Specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • 1. RGN on the NMC register
  • 2. Experience of working as a Nurse following preceptorship

Desirable

  • 1. Have experience and knowledge of working in a secure environment (desirable but not essential)

Skills and abilities

Essential

  • 1. Autonomously assess and manage patient’s care, with example.
  • 2. Have excellent written and oral communication skills, ensuring contemporaneous healthcare records are maintained.
  • 3. Ability to administer medications, with example.

Desirable

  • Ability to use SystmOne
