Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Band 4 Physiotherapy Technical Instructor within the Therapy Falls Prevention Team. The successful candidate will support patients who are at risk of falling (or who have already fallen) to help reduce their risk by improving strength, balance and confidence through specialised individual and group interventions.

 

You will be fully supported by physiotherapists (and the wider multi-disciplinary team), working within a competency framework and will be given all necessary clinical training for the job. You will manage your own workload and participate in team and service development.

 

You should have experience of working in rehabilitation, be enthusiastic and keen to work with the therapy team to provide an excellent service. You will need to have good communication and organisation skills, be a flexible team worker and able to use your own initiative.

 

This post includes working across community sites, so the post holder will be required to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes.

Main duties of the job

  1. To undertake approved clinical duties within the individual’s scope of practice.
  2. To work independently and under the guidance of physiotherapists to complete appropriate assessment and intervention.
  3. To co-ordinate and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions for patients following assessment, under the guidance of the physiotherapist or within set competencies and/or operating procedures, protocol and guidelines.
  4. Perform non-clinical duties such as clerical or housekeeping which aids the efficient running of the department.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Social Care or formal equivalent qualification.
  • Functional Skills at Level 2 (GCSE grade A-C / level 4-9 or equivalent in English and Maths)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in assessment of adaptive equipment and mobility aids.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a range of therapy / care settings e.g. hospital, community.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to work autonomously and make clinical judgements without direct supervision
  • Evidence of having completed band 3 competencies

Desirable

  • Experience of Risk Assessment

Special Requirements

Essential

  • Holds full valid UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
