Job Summary
Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board has a vacancy for a skilled Principal Software Engineer to support our data engineers in the Software Development/Data Warehouse Team of the Data, Intelligence, and Insight Department.
You will have responsibility for the design and maintenance of software related to the organisation’s data warehouse; this includes the processes, delivery platform and software relating to the acquisition, maintenance, and presentation of data. These information products support the organisation to manage health services strategically and operationally across North Wales.
The successful applicant will lead the team’s software strategy and programme of product delivery and maintenance, promoting excellence in technical development, and adhering to key principles and processes.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
A proven track record in solution delivery is necessary, the following skills are therefore essential:
- Advanced SQL skills
- A working knowledge of OOP principles and at least one OOP language (preferably C#)
- Experience of designing/writing/supporting web applications (MVC/C#/HTML/JS/JQuery)
- Understanding of the importance of thorough testing
- Understanding of how to consume REST APIs
Desirable skills:
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and techniques
- Experience of ETL processes
- In-depth knowledge of database design and the Microsoft SQL Server platform
