Job summary

The primary role of the postholder will be to provide senior clinical psychiatric input to the HIV Service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham as a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist.

The post will involve one programmed activity (1 PA) per week, delivered through a Friday afternoon outpatient clinic. The role will support adults living with HIV who are receiving treatment and ongoing care at QEHB, with a particular focus on patients with a psychiatric need or mental health difficulties that are directly related to, or impacting upon, their HIV care and treatment.

Applicants must hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice and be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act. You will need to be included on the Specialist Register; or be within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Psychiatry; or included in the Specialist Register through CESR.

Main duties of the job

*Provide senior psychiatric leadership and specialist clinical expertise within the HIV Service.

*Assess, diagnose, and manage psychiatric disorders in patients living with HIV.

*Undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulate treatment plans.

*Liaise with primary care, community mental health, substance misuse, and other support services.

*Contribute to the development of integrated care pathways.

Essential

  • *Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • *Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Psychiatry (or within six months of CCT/CCST, or CESR eligible).
  • *Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983)
