Job summary

Sheffield Talking Therapies is looking for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP). The post-holder will work within the Sheffield Talking Therapies service providing high volume low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) basedself-managementinterventions to service to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

The post holder will work with people withdifferent culturalbackgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities

This post holder will already be qualified to provide these interventions and will also hold a professional registration with a professional body (BPS or BABCP).

Main duties of the job

To meet all of the National Talking Therapies standards.

To ensure productivity expectations are met in line with the National Talking Therapies manual, currently to deliver 20 clinical contact hours (pro-rata) per week. This may involve booking over 20 patients per week in order to achieve the 20 delivered hours expectation. These standards are reviewed nationally, and it is expected that staff will continue to meet any updated standards.

To meet patient needs by working across Sheffield according to demand.Working a minimum of 22.5 hours per week&working Thursday afternoon to support you in the role.Thursday afternoonsareservice wide non-clinical time which involve meetings,forumsand CPD opportunities.

To offer at least one early appointment and one late appointment per week, or one evening clinic and/or Saturday working if required.

Deliver face-to-face and virtual treatment sessions with patientsbased on patient demand and service need.You may be expectedto physically be in work foryourfull workingweekif there is a service need, therefore you need arrangements in place to be able to work your full working hours in work premises. Working all of your working hours virtually is not an option.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
  • To meet all of the National Talking Therapies standards.
  • Ability to use session by session outcome measures to monitor practice
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills
  • Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Ability to carryout risk assessments within scope of practiceandmanagerisk
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
  • Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems

Desirable

  • Skilled in adapting Talking Therapies PWP interventions for people where adjustments need to be made e.g. either because of language; hearing/sight impairment or other potential barriers

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • NHS Talking Therapies qualification as a psychological wellbeing practitioner AND registration as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner with either BABCP or BPS. This must be maintained throughout employment

Desirable

  • Trainingin nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
  • Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree.
  • Psychology or other health related postgraduate degree
  • Talking Therapies supervisor qualification (or willingness to undertake)

Experienc

Essential

  • Worked in a service where agreed targets in placedemonstrating clinical outcomes
  • Abilityto manage own caseload and time

Desirable

  • Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
  • Experience of delivering Talking Therapies PWP interventions in a 1:1 face to face clinic; and by telephone.
  • Demonstrates high standards in written communication
  • Able to write clear reports and letters.
  • Experience of working in Primary Care Services Evidence of working in the local community
  • Experience/Interest of delivering and facilitating Talking Therapies specific groups and psycho-educational sessions/courses
  • Experience/Interest of delivering Computerised CBT packages e.g. SilverCloud
