Job summary

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nursing Associate to join the Darlington Treatment & Intervention Team at West Park Hospital.

The applicant must have already have completed the Nursing Associate foundation degree and be a registered Nurse Associate on the NMC register. This post is not offering the training to gain this qualification.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of the busy community team offering a recovery focused pathway to Service Users and will carry their own caseload as key worker, with the support of the multi-disciplinary clinical team. This will include the ongoing monitoring and support of our long-term patients, including those on treatments such as lithium, clozapine, depot medications etc.

There will also be some other varied elements to the role, appropriate to the scope of a Nursing Associate.

This role will involve multiagency working and liaison with other services within Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust.

Essential

  • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload
  • Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues

Desirable

  • Experience in the administration of depot injections and depot clinics.
  • Experience in supporting patients taking long term medications – clozapine and lithium etc.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information

Desirable

  • knowledge of mental illness

Experience

Essential

  • Up to date understanding of the scope of and role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and multidisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
  • Experience of working with clients who experience mental illness

Desirable

  • Experience of working within an community setting

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Nursing Associate Foundation Degree qualification
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent

Desirable

  • Qualification in assessment, supervision and teaching in clinical practice
