Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1 x part-time Qualified Paramedic or band 5 Technician to join us on an job-share basis at Scunthorpe Ambulance Station in Lincolnshire . The successful candidate will work 12.75 hours a week.

Please note this line share is also open to NQPs who are currently on a line or eligible for a line.

You will respond to emergency and urgent patients using advanced driving skills and utilising visual (blue lights) and audible (sirens) warnings. To transport patients, relatives and carers to other care providers whilst driving at both normal road speed and/or emergency conditions.

You will act in accordance with EMAS clinical policies, procedures, protocols and patient group directives and adhere to and promote EMAS values whilst dealing with patients, carers, relatives, ambulance service colleagues and colleagues from other emergency services.

Main duties of the job

Paramedics respond to critical emergency and urgent situations, delivering high quality and effective pre-hospital clinical care and patient transportation, responding to 999 emergencies, inter-hospital transfers and urgent hospital admissions.

Working in a crew or solo, a paramedic will use advanced driving skills under blue light and normal traffic conditions to respond to and transport emergency and routine patients as required.

In an emergency, you will use high-tech equipment, such as defibrillators (which can restore the heart’s rhythm), spinal and traction splints and intravenous drips, as well as administering oxygen and drugs. You will deal with a range of different people and situations, working shifts, in all weathers.

You will hold a current up to date HCPC registration.

You hold a full clean driving licence with a C1 category (applicants with a minor speeding offense may be considered, with no more than 3 points). You will need to provide evidence that you have completed a qualification allowing you to drive under blue light conditions in a C1 size vehicle (examples, IHCD D1/D2 or Futurequals Emergency Ambulance Driving).
