Job Summary

The Band 6 Radiographer role at King’s College Hospital offers a varied and rewarding opportunity within a leading teaching hospital. Main duties of the job

  • To work as a Band 6 Radiographer within a team of highly skilled and dedicated staff, delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred imaging services.
  • To enhance and develop existing clinical skills while gaining valuable leadership and supervisory experience, supporting junior staff and contributing to the day-to-day operational delivery of the service.
  • To work across dual specialist modalities (CT/Cath, CT/IR, or IR/Cath Labs), developing advanced modality-specific skills within a busy tertiary and teaching hospital environment.
  • To participate fully in a comprehensive and structured training programme across all specialist areas, achieving required competencies prior to undertaking autonomous practice.
  • To contribute to out-of-hours and weekend services once appropriately trained and deemed competent.
  • To work effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams, maintaining high standards of clinical practice, professionalism, and patient care.
  • To actively engage in continuing professional development, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
  • To practice in accordance with Trust policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements, upholding the Trust values of kindness, respectfulness, and teamwork at all times.

Person Specification

Qualification and Experience

Essential

  • Relevant post graduate training / experience as a Band 5 Radiographer
  • Evidence of CPD / remaining up-to-date with best practice
  • Evidence of supervision or training of students / less experienced Radiographers
  • Evidence of participation in QA in Radiology
  • Evidence of leadership experience
  • Understands clinical governance processes / involved in incident reporting
  • Awareness of NHS targets that directly / indirectly relevant to Radiology

Desirable

  • Post Graduate Qualification in a relevant Radiology area of study (min 12 month length)
  • Had 18 months post graduate experience as a band 5 radiographer with some evidence of role extension or currently works as a band 6 radiographer in general and specialised imaging modalities.
  • Evidence of participation in audit and research
