Job summary
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking Band 7 Radiology Team Lead to join our general Radiology Department. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic radiographer to provide professional, clinical, and operational leadership within a busy plain film service.
As the Plain Film Team Lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the plain film department, ensuring the delivery of a safe, effective, and high-quality imaging service. You will lead a team of radiographers promoting excellence in patient care, service improvement, workforce development, and clinical governance.
Main duties of the job
The Plain Film Lead Radiographer will provide professional, clinical and operational leadership for the General Radiography (Plain Film) service, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, safe and efficient imaging service.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and managing the day-to-day operation of the Plain Film service across designated areas.
Supervising, supporting and developing radiographers, assistant practitioners and support staff.
Ensuring high standards of patient care, radiation safety and image quality are maintained at all times.
Coordinating staffing, workload management and service delivery to meet departmental performance targets.
Contributing to appraisal, performance management and workforce planning processes.
Supporting education, training and professional development of staff and students within the department.
Monitoring and improving clinical practice through audit, quality improvement initiatives and implementation of evidence-based practice.
Ensuring compliance with regulatory and Trust policies and procedures.
Working collaboratively with radiologists, clinicians, operational managers and multidisciplinary teams to improve patient pathways and service efficiency.
Maintaining a clinical role within the Plain Film service and acting as a role model for professional practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- MSc, BSc Diagnostic Radiography or relevant diploma
- HCPC Registration
- Relevant postgraduate training or specialist courses in radiography practice
Desirable
- Leadership or management qualification.
Experience
Essential
- Significant post-registration experience within a General Radiography/Plain Film
Desirable
- Previous experience at Band 6 senior level or equivalent.
