Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Medical Team at County hospital. We are looking for a Registered Mental Health nurse with at least 1 years experience to join the team and support the mental health needs of patients admitted to hospital whilst they are managed for their acute medical condition.

You will be supported via a supernumerary period along with supervision from a mental health lead at the Trust and you will work closely with the Liaison Psychiatry Team.

Main duties of the job

We are a busy 31 to 41 bedded Acute Medical Unit that deals with a range of medical conditions. We receive patients directly from A&E, the Medical Receiving Unit and other areas of the hospital.

There is a high turnover of patients and a fast pace of work and we have high expectations regarding the quality of care provided to our patients. The care we provide has a focus of compassion & competence in order to give our patients the best possible care we can.

It is important to give you a supernumerary period to ensure that you have time to orientate yourself to your new environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with valid PIN

Desirable

  • Recognised qualification in teaching

Experience

Essential

  • At least 1 year experience in a mental health setting

Desirable

  • Has experience as a student or registered nurse in an Acute hospital setting
  • Experience of an acute medical environment
