An exciting opportunity to join the team on Richard Ticehurst SAU.
The Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) is a 30 bedded mixed sex general surgical ward taking elective and emergency patients.
We also take direct patients referrals from G.P’s /Paramedics. If you are motivated and keen to learn, this is the environment for you. It is challenging, but rewarding. You will be supporting the trained nurses in delivering patient care. Alongside SAU we also run an ambulatory clinic (SACC) which you may have to help cover, working a 9 -5 shift on occasion alongside a specialist nurse.Our aim is to provide the highest quality patient care in a happy work environment.
Main duties of the job
Undertake assessment of admissions as allocated by nurse in charge.
To work independently within the clearly defined boundaries of the Registered Nursing Associate competencies and scope of practice
Work with Registered Practitioners in the provision of nursing care for patients in the Surgical Assessment Unit
To carry out clinical tasks through admission to discharge in a safe effective manner.

Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma/Foundation Degree level qualification relevant to role
- Qualification and knowledge of patient assessment, planning, developing and implementing programmes of care
- Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
Desirable
- Post Graduate training/ qualification relevant to role to demonstrate clinical skills
Experience
Essential
- Experience in nursing/clinical care, knowledge and expertise acquired through training
- Demonstrate experience of providing clinical care in the healthcare setting
