The successful candidates(s) will either be a Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner. Experience in scrub practice would be preferred, but newly qualified practitioners and practitioners looking to develop a new skill, with a desire to work as part of our highly skilled team, will be considered.

Main duties of the job

A Registered Practitioner who will support the perioperative team by providing skilled scrub assistance in Trauma & Orthopaedics.

An ability to apply theory to practice to provide a high standard of perioperative care to all patients, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.

Willing to support and teach other members of the operating team.

Be able to lead a team in an operating theatre utilising excellent communication skills to ensure efficiency and expediency whilst ensuring safe and effective care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• First level RGN/ODP
• Degree/Diploma ODP or equivalent level training
• NMC/HCPC Registration

Desirable

• Evidence of continuous professional development

Experience

Essential

• Minimum of 12 months practical perioperative or other relevant experience – New graduates may be considered depending on the nature of the vacancy

• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients in the operating room/ anaesthetic room/ recovery

• Able to participate in on-calls/standby/weekend shifts to cover 24hour service
