We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is highly motivated and enthusiastic and who is interested in beginning their career in Sleep and Ventilation. This is an exciting role within our dynamic and well-respected Sleep and Ventilation service that will provide the successful candidate with a wonderful opportunity to develop skills with further training in the management of patients with sleep related respiratory conditions by carrying out basic diagnostic tests and assisting in initiating respiratory support treatment.
The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the medical team, our Admin team, other clinical physiologists in the department and members of the multi-disciplinary team. It is essential that you are self-motivated and have good communication skills. You should have clinical experience, preferably within the NHS.
Note that this role is not exclusive to physiologists. Allied Health Professionals, registered nurses and Healthcare Assistants with a suitable background are encouraged to apply.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
To have excellent communication and reporting skills.
To be able to perform and analyse respiratory sleep studies, as well as virtual set up of sleep study equipment when required.
To be able to set up and carry calibration, testing and system checks in relation to diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
To be able to assist the senior sleep and NIV physiologists in the CPAP clinics for initiation, troubleshooting and follow up appointments. This will also include basic clerking of the patient by taking the patients height, weight, blood pressure and providing them with relevant questionnaires.
To perform and interpret blood gas results, spirometry and SNIP tests.
To provide reports and documentation.
To download and store patient data in accordance with departmental policies.
To maintain the stock levels.
To support equipment troubleshooting.
To maintain self development with CPD and appropriate training.
To be able to handle direct patient care and contact in the ward and outpatient setting with appropriate respect, dignity and privacy.
To be able to escalate any concerns relating to standards of patient care appropriately.
To complete all mandatory training.
To perform administrative, IT and housekeeping duties.
To abide by all Trust policies.
