Main duties of the job

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is home to one of the busiest and most complex cardiac and congenital cardiac surgery services in England. Our large, highly skilled perfusion team plays a critical role in delivering safe, effective care and achieving consistently excellent patient outcomes.

We are now looking to recruit experienced Senior Clinical Perfusion Scientists to join our Cardiovascular and Thoracic Care Group, a recognised regional centre of excellence.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential

  • MSc in Clinical perfusion science or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists Accreditation
  • Full registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists
  • Fully conversant with all aspects of adult cardiopulmonary bypass procedures and associated techniques
  • Fully conversant with specialist techniques and perfusion procedures as required by individual patients such as, left heart bypass, cerebral perfusion (both antegrade and retrograde), vacuum assisted venous drainage, ventricular assist devices and blood conservation techniques

Desirable

  • A broad range of experience in neonatal, Paediatric and GUCH perfusion
  • Paediatric perfusion experience
  • Paediatric ECMO training course
