We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our supportive Community Rehabilitation Team working across the Maryport & Cockermouth ICC on the fringe of the beautiful Lake District.
You will work as part of our established team which supports hospital discharge, works to prevent hospital admission, offers anticipatory care as well as a community hospital inpatient ward.
This role will support patient’s receiving the Home Care Practitioner service using models of occupational therapy you will assist individuals to achieve their occupational goals, sharing your skills and expertise with others. An interest in personalised care handling is required but training can be provided

This is a full-time post, with 37.5hours per week, for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
To undertake assessment, clinical and functional diagnosis of adults/older adults using a range of specialist standardised assessments and clinical observation skills across physical, sensory, cognitive, emotional, psychological and social domains.
To provide advice in the formulation or progress of a medical diagnosis and to support family members through this process guided by specialist theoretical knowledge and enabled by establishing a therapeutic alliance.
Contribute to the MDT’s understanding of the family system and its impact on the patient, the patient’s present circumstances, and the impact of that on the family system.
To formulate agreed specialist individual and/or group treatment plans and goals based on advanced clinical reasoning skills with the adult etc, taking in to account the domains assessed.
To provide specialist occupational therapy treatment interventions in a variety of environments including home and community hospital bed setting
To provide spontaneous and planned specialist advice, teaching and instruction to family members, carers and other relevant professionals in health, to promote understanding of the aims of occupational therapy and to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach across the AHP service.
Interventions regularly include the assessment, evaluation and prescription of specialised equipment for the adults. Standards for offering specialist advice for its safe use and the aims and purpose of the equipment apply as above.

Qualifications
Essential
- BSc Hons in Occupational Therapy or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification
- Ability to share/cascade relevant knowledge and skills
- Registration with the Health Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD
Desirable
- Clinical Educator qualification
Experience
Essential
- Post-registration clinical experience where a degree of autonomous working has been required.
- Evidence of working on own initiative, managing time and prioritising
- Experience of extended role clinical responsibilities.
- Experience of supervision of junior staff and students.
- Experience of Audit procedures.
- Extensive clinical experience, including individual and group work.
Desirable
- Experience of working within a range of settings.
- Experience of conducting audit and / or research Experience of staff management.
- Experience of providing staff supervision and appraisal to both qualified and non professionally aligned staff.
- Clinical application of a variety of standardised assessment such as the MOHO tools
