Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated, team player with excellent communication skills to join our dedicated team of Diabetes Specialist Dietitians working as core member of a dynamic Diabetes Service. You will also be able to maintain your inpatient nutritional support skillsas on one day per week you will cover to the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Leicester General Hospital.

This exciting and diverse role will provide an opportunity to further develop your skills in advising patients living with diabetes on a one to one basis, within group settings and working within multidisciplinary clinics alongside other diabetes specialist colleagues. You will also support patients with gestational diabetes within the antenatal clinic and you will be working within a well-defined multi-professional team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To provide a Nutrition and Dietetic Service to diabetes outpatients and to stroke inpatients & their families.
  • To undertake structured education sessions for people living with diabetes.
  • Working closely alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the delivery of the services, offering assessment, formulation and treatment plans.The post remit will also include teaching and training of healthcare professionals, resource development and student dietetic training.

This role is ideal for a proactive team player looking to develop their knowledge in diabetes and stroke and to gain more experience in education, including group education.

Qualification

Essential

  • Hcpc registration
  • Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics

Desirable

  • Validated course in the area of diabetes
  • Student Training (FOL)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience with Diabetes
  • Adult Nutritional Support experience
  • Experience of Training/Teaching and group work

Desirable

  • Team MDT working
  • Experience of clinical audit activities leading to improved patient care

Communication

Essential

  • All round written and verbal in all media
  • Group skills
  • Influencing teams

Desirable

  • Has undertaken post-registration training in behavioural change and motivational interviewing
