Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Information and Insights Analyst to support a major programme of work to transform the Trust’s assurance reporting, performance intelligence and decision-making capability.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analyst or business intelligence professional with strong expertise in Power BI, data modelling and performance reporting to play a key role in the development and delivery of a new Trust-wide assurance reporting solution.

Working within the Performance Team, you will support the design, development and implementation of a business intelligence solution that transforms the Trust’s approach to assurance reporting, performance management and data quality monitoring. The solution will enable the day-to-day identification and management of performance, quality and data quality issues through intuitive and user-centred dashboards. It will support the seamless production of locality-level Quality and Performance reports, with reporting and assurance information brought together into a consistent reporting framework that supports effective governance and informed decision-making across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

The role will focus on the practical development and deployment of reporting solutions, including the creation of complex datasets, data models, Power BI dashboards, performance metrics and analytical outputs. Working closely with the Performance Improvement Managers, Senior Performance and Insights Manager and a wide range of clinical, operational and corporate stakeholders, you will translate reporting requirements into robust technical solutions that deliver accurate, timely and actionable information.

The successful candidate will bring experience of developing reporting and business intelligence products within a complex environment and will be confident working with large datasets, data transformation processes and analytical tools. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining reporting products, testing new solutions, supporting continuous improvement and helping to embed modern reporting and data visualisation techniques across the Trust.

You will also contribute to the development of the wider Performance Team through knowledge sharing, coaching and the promotion of best practice in reporting, analysis and dashboard development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to this person specification
  • Management training diploma/degree in management/leadership or equivalent vocational training; or willingness to undertake
  • ICT related qualification at Level 5 or above or experience at a good standard using MS Office specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Maths and English qualifications at level 5 or above or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Managing in a pressurised environment
  • Directly supporting Service improvement
  • Administration and awareness of KPIs and performance within the NHS
  • Delivery of performance reporting using BI tools including Excel and Power BI
  • Communication of performance related detail in reports and presentations

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to develop a culture that improves quality using data and systems to support improvements
  • Ability to use a developing range of IT systems, Business Intelligence Tools and software packages specifically to present information to external and internal audience
  • Ability to write confidently in reports explaining issues with actions stated clearly

Knowledge

Essential

  • Good working knowledge of wider health and social care systems and structures, policies, procedures and legislation relevant to NHS contracts and business functions
  • Management tools, organisational systems and processes relevant to managing in an NHS organisation
  • National developments and relevancy to performance and data
