Job Summary

 

Main duties of the job

  • To lead and provide direction for information analysis within Trust’s clinical directorates.
  • This is a business focused role working closely with Managers and Clinicians within the directorates to ensure they have the information they need to understand, manage and develop their services.
  • To take an active role in and promote the use of Information to managers and clinicians; interpreting the information available within the Trust’s Business Intelligence (BI) systems; using predictive techniques to highlight variation and forecast trends; and working with managers and clinicians to provide information to support improving efficiency of services and to support the developing agenda around transformation within the trust.

Qualification(s) and Professional Training

Essential

  • A degree or other advanced recognized qualifications or five years of relevant NHS experience.
  • Post-Graduate Level Education or equivalent experience.
  • Statistical qualification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced information analysis experience or equivalent minimum 5 years
  • Experience in interpreting and analyzing complex data.
  • Sound grasps of statistical and analytical techniques and experience in using them.
  • Advanced experience with a wide range of report writing and analysis tools.
  • Experience in communicating at all levels within the organization and with external organizations and presenting to large groups.
  • Experience in presenting complex statistical information to senior managers.
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Previous experience in managing RTT data assurance and validation
  • Negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of NHS data flows and data definitions.

Desirable

  • Understanding NHS information data flows and SUS processes
  • Good understanding of SQL programming.
  • Experience in using BI packages, e.g. Microsoft Power BI

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex information and present it in a simplified manner.
  • Ability to develop data models to forecast different scenarios.
  • In-depth knowledge of information analysis techniques.
  • Change management skills – able to implement change effectively

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including excellent working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Understanding of how to use and interpret benchmarking analysis.
  • Ability to liaise with staff at varying levels and being confident in working through information issues with senior managers is essential.

  • Excellent literacy and report-writing skills
  • Ability to explain working methods and highly complex analysis to non-information staff.
