Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and Maintenance of Infrastructure Services
    • Provide day-to-day support for existing infrastructure solutions across the Trust.
    • Act as a key contact for managing and maintaining our enterprise backup solution, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Data Centre Operations
    • Serve as the primary liaison for our two data centre sites, coordinating access and activities with third-party vendors and internal teams.
    • Oversee physical infrastructure tasks such as hardware installations, cabling, and environmental monitoring.
  • Incident and Request Management
    • Respond to and resolve BAU tickets and service requests in line with ITIL best practices.
    • Monitor and manage daily system health reports, escalating issues where necessary to ensure service continuity.
  • Project Involvement
    • Contribute to the delivery of IT infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, platform migrations, and new service implementations.
    • Collaborate with project teams to ensure infrastructure components are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Platform Modernization
    • Support ongoing efforts to modernize the Trust’s server and infrastructure estate, including the adoption of cloud technologies and automation tools.
    • Participate in the evaluation and deployment of new technologies to improve performance, scalability, and resilience

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant technical experience
  • Expert knowledge, skills and appropriate certification within the Server field
  • ITIL Foundation qualification

Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of the ITIL Framework
  • Exposure to Service Management Systems
  • Able to work autonomously, prioritise workloads and resource them in response to changing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – can explain complex requirements in a clear and concise manner
  • Server hardware fundamentals
  • Enthusiasm, commitment, self-motivation and a willingness to work in a flexible manner

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience as an Infrastructure Engineer in a large highly complex organisation
  • Experience in the management of commercial enterprise systems that are hosted on the server platform
  • Significant experience of interpreting business requirements and considering the impact on IT services.
  • Demonstrable experience of working and managing others to plans and timescales
  • Demonstrable experience of producing qualitative work in very aggressive timescales
  • Demonstrated experience in building strong relationships with business partners and multi-discipline project delivery teams.
  • Previous line management experience
  • Proven experience of working within an organisation with full adherence to the ITIL Framework, with a focus on Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
  • Proven experience in working in conjunction with IT Managed Services
