Job summary
The position of Associate Lecturer has been introduced to enable flexible delivery within a portfolio of courses, and where appropriate, across portfolios. It aims to facilitate the post holder in implementing a wide range of skills within an integrated post. However, the post holder will work flexibly across the MA social work programme (M23) to provide teaching, supervision and tuition to master’s students, as required. The post holder will also be involved in assessment processes and will assist flexibly in all aspects of course delivery.
Main duties of the job
Teaching & Training
To contribute to the teaching and supervision on the MA social work course, within the Interprofessional Portfolio.
To deliver asynchronous lectures, face to face or online workshops and seminars across the programme.
To provide research supervision to students across M23 and respond to often highly complex issues requiring consideration of a range of possible options and providing expert knowledge and input.
To participate in the development, administration and marking of assessments.
To act as personal tutor to allocated students on the social work programme.
To ensure teaching and supervision integrates an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory framework and takes account of equality, diversity and inclusion.
To contribute to marketing initiatives when required, including attendance at Trust-wide and course specific open events for prospective students.
To assist Course Lead in processes obtaining student feedback and preparing annual reports for university partners and Professional Regulatory and Statutory Bodies.
To liaise closely with Course Lead and the Head of Portfolio about any concerns, some highly complex, raised by students including those that could lead to complaint.
To attend course team meetings, course committee meetings, progression boards, pre-boards and examination boards as required.

Qualifications
Essential
- Masters level qualification or equivalent.
- Recognised qualification in consulting to organisations from a systems psychodynamic perspective
- Evidence of continuing personal and professional development, including as member and in staff roles in group relations conference learning contexts
Desirable
- A PhD or PD in a related field
Experience
Essential
- Significant post-qualifying experience in consulting and/or leading in organisations from a systems psychodynamic perspective
- Substantial and varied experience in organisational consultation practice, in in-house or external roles
- Substantial experience of teaching students in higher education
- Experience of academic research and supervision, as required by the Trust and/or relevant validating body
- Understanding and experience of action research and supervision of projects addressed to questions of equity, equality, diversity, inclusion, disadvantage, discrimination etc.
- Demonstrated commitment and direct experience as staff on varied Group Relations Conferences
Desirable
- Experience of doctoral supervision preferably with one or more completions.
- Experience of quality assurance, academic governance and the student experience
- Track record of writing for publication and engaging in scholarly activity.
- Experience of taking up directorate roles on Group Relations Conferences

- High level of attention to detail and awareness of the relevant regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the academic nature of the role.
- Proficiency in the use of a range of Microsoft Office Programmes to Intermediate levels including advanced keyboard skills.

- Substantial knowledge and understanding and application of contemporary psychoanalytic and systemic approaches to organisations, leadership and to consultation
- Contemporary understanding of relevant theoretical and practice frameworks relevant to study of organisation behaviour and development
- Commitment and aptitude to explore opportunities for digital innovation in pedagogy and develop personal digital capabilities
Desirable
- Familiarity with the institutional procedures and processes surrounding doctoral progression and completion, e.g. research ethics approval, annual review of progress, examiner appointments
