Job Summary
Tower Hamlets has an exciting opportunity for an experienced peer support professional to join the Isle of Dogs Neighbourhood Mental Health Team! We’re looking for candidates who have a strong interest in peer support, who are caring and empathetic, and have leadership qualities to develop peer support in this new role.
Main duties of the job
- Develop a peer support offer in the Isle of Dogs NMHT, with direction from the Operational Lead and Borough Lead.
- Provide support to junior PSW’s, through induction, team integration, and supervision.
- Be a caring and an empathetic person, be genuine, and be open to other people and their differences.
- Be passionate about peer support, have strong knowledge of the profession and have experience with a range of clients in a mental health setting.

Person Specification
Education/Qualification/Training
Essential
- ELFT Accredited Peer Support Worker Training or to complete within six months in post.
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of working as a Peer Support Worker in a relevant setting.
- Own personal lived experience of mental health
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- A sound knowledge of good practice in peer support
- Demonstrate knowledge of personal recovery and a broad understanding of the principles of recovery.
- Evidence of good interpersonal skills and an ability to form peer relationships with service users and carers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable
- Awareness of local services.
- Ability to speak other languages.
