We are looking for an experienced Band 6 or established Band 7 Physiotherapist to work with us in our large, friendly and supportive integrated team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Support Workers. We work within the Emergency Department, Acute Assessment Unit and Older Person Assessment Unit. We adopt transdisciplinary approaches and pride ourselves in being innovative and proactive in our approaches to patient care.

Main duties of the job
To play a major and specialist role in the advanced assessment, treatment, clinical management and discharge planning of patients attending A&E/SDEC and admitted to the short stay units (Acute Assessment Unit, Older Person Assessment Unit, CDU) determining clinical diagnosis, functional deficits, treatment programs and discharge planning.
To take a proactive, positive risk taking approach with advanced risk assessment skills in admission avoidance and discharge planning and support the less experienced therapists to do the same.

Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
- Registered with Health Care Professions Council
Desirable
Experience
Essential
- Extensive post registration experience working in an acute hospital setting in the NHS or similar health service
- Recent experience working at senior level (band 6 or 7) in acute assessment, A&E, and/or admission avoidance roles
- Post registration experience in other relevant specialties including orthopaedics, medical, respiratory, frailty & neurology
- Competency and experience in working within a transdisciplinary environment
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience and confidence working within a high pressured and fast paced environment
- Experience supervising and appraising staff and students
- Experience of audit/research
- Documented evidence of CPD, in accordance with HCPC recommendations
Knowledge
Essential
- Good knowledge of current best practice in therapy within emergency care settings
- Good knowledge of best practice in therapy for frailty, medicine, neurology, orthopaedic and pain management
- In depth knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to client group
- Understand legal responsibilities of the profession & associated code of ethics

- Specialist therapy clinical skills in acute assessment of patents with a variety of complex pathologies with a special interest in frailty
- Transdisciplinary therapy assessment skills
