Job summary

Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days a week on site at Edward Jenner Court, Gloucestershire, or project based site within Gloucestershire.

This Senior Project Manager post is an exciting opportunity to co-ordinate projects for the Trust and is part of the busy Digital Services Department. We are particularly seeking candidates with experience of delivering digital improvements with a highly technical background and experience in programmes of work, including upgrades, replacements MACs within infrastructure-related transformation across complex operational environments.

Digital Services lead on digital strategy, development, co-ordination, planning, project and programme management for all IT and Digital supporting functions. This includes the delivery of enabling digital infrastructure requirements that support wider organisational programmes, such as data centre migration, end points, wireless, LAN, WAN and associated dependencies.

The successful candidate will be confident working across multi disciplinary digital and clinical system teams, translating operational requirements into practical delivery plans and ensuring that IT dependencies, technical specifications and service continuity considerations are effectively managed.

Main duties of the job

Lead and manage projects and organisational change initiatives from inception to closure, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives, quality standards, timescales and benefits. Provide expert project and change management support, managing risks, issues, dependencies and interrelated projects throughout the lifecycle.

Work collaboratively with IT Services, senior managers and stakeholders to define scope, objectives, deliverables, resource requirements and success criteria aligned to organisational priorities.

Produce regular project and technical reports for Executive Teams, Project Boards and governance groups. Maintain accurate project documentation and SharePoint repositories in line with agreed standards.

Present complex and sensitive information to support organisational change and new ways of working.

Coordinate project resources, including staff, contractors, consultants and specialist support. Recommend additional resources where required and oversee workload management and performance.

Negotiate stakeholder commitment, balance competing priorities and resolve complex issues. Support transition into Business as Usual through the implementation of appropriate processes, policies and governance arrangements.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant computing or business management discipline with specialist post-graduate modules or equivalent level of experience.
  • Prince2 (Practitioner) or equivalent
  • Currently or recently held a Technical Project Management role

Desirable

  • Experience of working within the NHS

Experience

Essential

  • Currently or recently (last 3 years) held a Technical (Infrastructure) Project Management Role
  • Track record of delivery of Digital workstreams within Digital / IT Operations programmes to the required standards, on time and within budget;
  • Evidence of delivering complex digital projects and programmes with ability to interpret digital technologies and terms
  • Evidence of risk and issue management skills
  • Track record of delivery of technical (infrastructure) programmes of work to the required standards, on time and within budget

Desirable

  • Evidence of effective supplier & contract management
  • Awareness of NHS Information Governance principles
  • Effective “change agent” with ability to be part of a team through significant programmes of change.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Detailed technical knowledge in IT Infrastructure technologies and their relationships and dependencies
  • Robust knowledge of IT/ Digital standards
  • Excellent working knowledge and skills in using SharePoint, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft
  • Demonstratable awareness of technical infrastructures core components, relationships and terminologies

Desirable

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical supporting services essential for the delivery of IT/Digital systems and services.
  • Evidenced awareness to latest technologies within a healthcare setting

  • Able to develop and apply reactive and pragmatic solutions to problems
  • Ability to manage difficult situations, challenge mindsets and deal with conflict.
  • Ability to research technical specifications and solutions and apply to the project requirements whilst inline with the wider Digital Services standards, strategies and relating / tailoring to meet the Estates focused outcomes
