We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team and play a key role in advancing secure NHS research infrastructure through innovative use of health data.
iCARE is a cutting-edge health data and analytics initiative and home to Imperial’s Azure based Secure Data Environment, bringing together clinical expertise, research capability and advanced analytics to unlock the potential of health data and improve patient outcomes.
Working across digital health, Artificial Intelligence and Real-World Evidence, you will contribute to nationally significant programmes, including the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Imperial Biomedical Research Centre and the Paddington Life Sciences initiative. You will work alongside clinicians, researchers, data scientists and engineers in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment, helping to transform complex healthcare data into trusted research assets that drive innovation and improve patient care.

Main duties of the job
- As a Senior Research Data Manager, you will be a key member of iCARE, leading the design, development and optimisation of secure, scalable data platforms and services that enable high-quality health research.
- You will play an integral role in the continued evolution of the Imperial Biomedical Research Centre’s Azure based NHS Secure Data Environment.
- You will also drive the delivery of a portfolio of translational projects within the Digital Health theme of the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre, a £95 million translational research initiative supporting the development of new treatments, diagnostics and technologies that benefit patients and communities locally, regionally and nationally.
- The main purpose of the Senior Research Data Manager is to lead the development of curated datasets for research use case.
- The post holder will be the main point of contact for the service wrapper/front office team for London and will be able to understand the needs of customers in relation to data curation, documentation and support.
- The post holder will link back with data engineer, AD of BI and the technical project manager to get the requirements into the pipeline where functionality/developments are not available.
- The senior research data manager will be representing London SDE at national forums for e.g. OMOP community of interest group, data and technical community of interest group etc.
