Job Summary

The CAMHS Eating Disorders Team is an award winning, recovery focused, multidisciplinary community team working with under 18’s with Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder. An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Support Worker to work as part of an multi disciplinary team providing support to young people with eating disorders.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in the assessment and supportive interventions for young people who are assessed as needing a tier 4 service for meal support. The post holder will work across services including Eating Disorder Team, The Home Treatment Team and Forest House Adolescent Unit. The young person will be assessed as to whether they can be safely managed in their own home with intensive input, as part of their care plan, or in some cases may require inpatient admission. Working alongside care coordinators, the post holder will provide clinical interventions such as meal support, cognitive remediation therapy, emotional enhancement therapy, body image work, emotional regulation work and anxiety work.

Person Specification

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • NVQ level 3 or a MH Certificate of equivalent qualification. Evidence of additional relevant mental health training e.g. eating disorders
  • One year experience of working with people with mental health problems in either an acute or community setting with an Eating Disorder

Desirable

  • Additional relevant training
  • Understanding of welfare benefits system
  • Experience of working with people in a specialist field

AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Experience of working autonomously and using own initiative

Desirable

  • Experience of assisting in the assessment of service users and the development and implementation of care plans
