Job summary
We are looking for an exceptional and experienced Service Manager to join our team at the Royal London Hospital (RLH) as Service Manager for the Orthopaedic Department. The post sits within the Orthopaedics, Plastics and Major Trauma directorate.
As a large and complex directorate in one of the largest and most complex Trusts in the country this is both a challenging and exciting place to work. While we face the same financial and performance pressures as all NHS Trusts, we are undertaking significant projects to improve healthcare delivery through the We Improve programme.
Reporting into the General Manager, the postholder will work closely with the Clinical Leads, Matrons and Ward Managers to ensure we deliver high quality services, provide an excellent experience for our patients, and meet our regulatory and operational performance targets.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high performing team in a high-profile organisation providing stretch, development, and challenge for the successful candidate. The role is well supported by an Associate General Manager as well as the wider management team.
Main duties of the job
The Service Manager is a key management role and is responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of the service areas. Key aims are:
o Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for Emergency Care and Trauma services, assisting the Clinical Director, Lead Clinicians and General Manager to ensure that these services are responsive, innovative and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.o Take forward agreed projects to improve service delivery and patient experience in key areas.o Lead on ensuring that all performance/quality targets are met.o Problems solve as appropriate, and develop and implement lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical colleagues. To be a key member of the Divisional Management Team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times.
The post holder will manage a team within the division.
