Hours: 18 / Permanent

Based at Rowan House, Colman Hospital, Unthank Road, Norwich, NR2 2PJ.

This is an extremely exciting time to be working within iCaSH Norfolk. As the demand for our service grows, we are looking for a motivated & enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to work within our sexual health services.

You will be a NMC Registered Nurse or a NMC Registered midwife with a nationally recognised qualification in Sexual Health (BASHH STIF).

You will also have recent experience of working in sexual health (Contraception, GUM or equivalent), and ability to demonstrate competency in supply of treatments by Patient Group Directions (PGDs) & be able to work autonomously.

Working pattern Monday- Friday 8:30-7:30 and Saturday mornings, 1 in 4 on a rotational basis.

Main duties of the job

To assess the sexual and reproductive health (SRH), needs of patients attending our integrated Contraception and Sexual Health (iCaSH) Services.

To work within the sexual health department offering advice/testing/treatments.

To act in a responsible manner, being courteous at all times, with sensitivity towards the needs of the individual patient, recognising their right to dignity and privacy.

To support training and education to professionals, students and other agencies.

To work as a member of our iCaSH service with a willingness to undertake further training in SRH as required to support service development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC registration
  • STIF Intermediate Course

Desirable

  • Non Medical Prescribing

Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience of working in sexual health (GUM)
  • Able to demonstrate competency in supply of treatments by Patient Group Directions (PGDs)
  • Competent at undertaking Microscopy
  • Ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults.

Desirable

  • Cervical Cytology Sample Taker

Skills

Essential

  • Specialist clinical knowledge in sexual health
  • Competent to work to a range of sexual health treatments and/or undertake screening for STIs or sexual health advising.

Desirable

  • Competent in phlebotomy (or a willingness to undertake training)
