An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and inspirational clinical pharmacist to join our Mental Health Pharmacy Team at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated pharmacist to become part of our expanding service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of mental health specialties, including adult acute wards, older adult wards, psychiatric intensive care unit, and low secure unit.

You will also have the opportunity to work closely with Community Mental Health Teams, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to support patient-centred care across a variety of settings.

Previous mental health experience is not essential, and all applicants are welcome to apply. Successful candidates will be supported to develop their specialist knowledge and skills, including the opportunity to complete the nationally recognised Aston University Psychiatric Therapeutics Certificate.

Main duties of the job

The post is based at Glangwili Hospital, although pharmacy services are provided across the Health Board. As such, some travel between sites will be required to support services across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Ceredigion. We offer flexibility regarding the areas you will cover.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential

  • Masters degree in pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent experience or qualifications
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Professional knowledge of medicines managements systems and process in an integrated NHS
  • Experience of teaching & supervision of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and students
  • Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience or qualifications
  • Knowledge of specialist area as described in job advert

Desirable

  • Accredited Pre-registration Tutor
  • Accredited Diploma Pharmacy Tutor
  • Independent Prescriber

Other

Essential

  • Flexibility to undertake emergency duty including weekends, Bank Holiday and evening opening
  • Have a flexible approach
  • Travel between sites and outside organization
  • Understands and shows commitment to continuing professional development

Experience
