Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Specialist Musculoskeletal (MSK) Podiatrist to be based at the Broadgreen Hospital site.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated Podiatrist to join our small, friendly and dynamic team committed to delivering the very best podiatric care providing a range of foot health services, encompassing all aspects of MSK podiatry.

The post holder will treat patients with complex MSK foot and ankle conditions in a variety of specialist clinics including rheumatology, footwear clinics, triage services and nail surgery. You will also provide specialist podiatry input to the inpatient setting at Broadgreen.

The team is friendly and supportive and the Lead Podiatrist and Therapy Managers will provide clinical support and supervision. As a Band 6 Podiatrist you will be encouraged to develop your knowledge and skills and be involved in the clinical education of staff and students. You will work closely with the Diabetes Podiatry Team and the wider foot and ankle services including physiotherapy, orthotics and orthopaedics.

We have a comprehensive training programme and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops and clinical supervision. Participation in audit and research is encouraged.

The position is suitable for a podiatrist keen to develop in the field of MSK podiatry. Applicants must be HCPC registered and have a degree or equivalent in Podiatry with a Local Anaesthesia certificate.

Main duties of the job

The main focus of this role is providing podiatry musculoskeletal (MSK) assessment and treatment, MSK triage services and rheumatology clinics. You will be expected to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate podiatric care for a variety of clinical conditions. You will be required to have good understanding, clinical reasoning skills and practical skills in MSK / biomechanical assessment and orthotic prescriptions, vascular assessment, wound management and nail surgery.

You will take an active role in service development and evaluation in order to drive continuous improvement of the service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc Hons Podiatry or diploma in podiatric medicine
  • Registered with HCPC – Podiatry
  • Certificate in local anaesthesia
  • Demonstrate own continuous professional development

Desirable

  • Fieldwork Educators Course
  • Clinical Supervision Course

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate experience of range of podiatry procedures/situations eg orthotics, nail surgery, diabetic footcare, care of the elderly, delivery of care in clinical setting
  • Demonstrable post graduation experience

Desirable

  • Demonstrate experience of supervising other staff/students

Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the clinical governance agenda
  • Demonstrate an active involvement in research, clinical audit or other quality issue
