Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the multidisciplinary team within Integrated Community Paediatric Services in Suffolk.You will workas a Specialist Nursery Nurse, within the Community Complex Care Team.

We encompass community working and liaise with many professionals depending on the need of the child/family. As part of your role, you will be expected to be aware of these services, observe and hand over important information to aid communication as well as adhering to safeguarding policies.

 

Main duties of the job

The Nursery Nurse is required to perform any care needs that the child requires during their shift. This is a varied and ever-changing role, depending on the child that you are caring for. This means you will be required to undertake competency-based training that is bespoke to our team and the needs of the case load. This is continually updated and adapted depending on need. While caring for the child you will need to have the confidence and understanding to work without direct supervision from senior nurses, although understanding the steps to take when additional support is required. Our packages of care are cross-county and as part of your role you are expected to travel and be adaptable to changes on the rota that can occur daily.

The team is managed by the Team lead, and care co-ordinators who you will be responsible to. They manage the everyday needs of the care package, arranging shifts, problem-solving, clinical supervision, and direct guidance.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Maths and English as minimum
  • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education (Formerly NNEB/
  • Diploma in Nursery Nursing) OR
  • NVQ level 3 in Early Years Care & Education OR
  • BA/BSc Degree in Early Childhood Studies

Desirable

  • Safeguarding Level 1
  • Evidence of other post qualification, training and experience
  • Care Certificate

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of Community Services
  • Partnership working
  • Understand health and safety legislation for self and others.

Desirable

  • Ability to deliver nursing care to children/young people competently and safely under direction and supervision of senior staff
  • Previous experience of working in a relevant clinical area

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Post qualification experience working with children/young people and parent/carers.
  • Evidence of working within acute or community setting

Desirable

  • Nursing care of children who have complex health/palliative care needs.
  • Nursing care of children who are technology dependent.
  • Clinical skills, such as: enteral feeding, tracheostomy and seizure management, venepuncture, skin care, administration of medication, sleep studies, continence assessments.
