Are you passionate about occupational therapy in Stroke and Neurology?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic Stroke and Neurology Therapy Service at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You will have the chance to work across a variety of teams, including Neuro-Rehabilitation, Head Injury, Inpatient Neurology, and the Stroke Pathway, covering both inpatient and community stroke services.

We are seeking a motivated, forward-thinking, and enthusiastic Specialist Occupational Therapist to become an integral part of our team.

The therapy department is deeply committed to staff development. We offer a robust in-house training, supervision, and support program designed to help you grow professionally. We also support ongoing postgraduate education and provide dedicated time for your personal development.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work alongside and be supported by team leaders and co-ordinators, the wider team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, assistant practitioners and therapy assistants.

This team is committed to developing their service and providing outstanding quality care for their patients.

We are looking to appoint an individual who has the appropriate qualifications and significant post registration experience within the NHS having undertaken rotations in a rehabilitation setting previously, including demonstration of a flexible approach and a drive to develop themselves and the service they work in.

The post requires working in different locations including different hospital sites and community settings including domiciliary visits.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post-graduate experience, including recent experience in an NHS setting.
  • Previous experience of assessment, treatment planning for patients needing rehabilitation
  • Some experience of student supervision

Desirable

  • Previous clinical experience in neurology and / or stroke rehabilitation

Skills

Essential

  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Competent in core areas of Occupational Therapy practiseInterview/applicationE
  • Competent IT skills

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
  • Specialist knowledge of current evidence based best practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of stroke and neurology

Desirable

  • Attendance on external post-graduate courses

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy Studies
  • HCPC Registered
  • Clinical Educators course
  • Relevant specialist qualification or training to diploma level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of current CPD
  • Post registration qualification in relevant subject

Desirable

  • RCOT
  • Leadership or management development qualification / courses
