An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a B6 specialist area radiographer in Paediatrics and Safeguarding X-Ray Imaging. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic HCPC registered Radiographer to join our dynamic imaging team at UHPT. Applications are welcomed from radiographers with demonstrable post graduate NHS experience within plain film/general team, sound current clinical proven knowledge of radiography, with current clinical expertise across all areas of x-ray imaging and a keen interest in Paediatrics and Safeguarding Imaging.
The Paediatric X-Ray Imaging service at UHPT encompasses a broad remit and is a regional centre for a wide variety of patient pathways including Paediatrics.
As well as being a specialist within this area, a successful candidate will be responsible for delivery of Paediatric x-ray services, also supporting the X-Ray service line responsibility to oversee an effective Safeguarding support and educational programme for the X-Ray department.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and ‘At Risk’ status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
As a specialist senior radiographer, you would be expected to provide clinical excellence, liaise with all service users, lead service development, and manage the day-to-day organisation of the clinical area whilst consistently providing effective and efficient leadership. This role will be expected to provide support across the whole of X-ray Paediatric Imaging service and deputise in the absence of the Paediatric Lead Radiographer
The department hosts undergraduate radiographers on placement from the University of Exeter and the University of Plymouth as well as training apprentice radiographers and assistant practitioners, so you will be expected to be actively involved in their training and supervision as part of your role, whilst supporting the wider team. All candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and supporting learners in the clinical environment.
This position carries a commitment to Agenda for Change compliant 7 day working at Derriford Hospital and peripheral sites. You will be expected to work flexible hours across the week.

Qualifications
Essential
- Current HCPC registration.
- BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
Desirable
- Student assessor qualification/training
- Post graduate qualification) linked to your specialist area, or willingness to obtain one.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable post graduate experience as a band 5 general radiographer and sound clinical knowledge of radiography
- A working understanding of current radiation protection legislation (IRR and IRMER).
- Proven understanding of quality improvement and its role in patient safety culture, training, and image quality.
- Awareness and understanding of Safeguarding issues and services
Desirable
- Proven awareness of NHS policies and documents.
- Demonstrable experience of planning and organising complex activities requiring the formulation and adjustment of plans.

- Able to communicate effectively at different levels of an organisation in both verbal and written form, whilst demonstrating fluency, clarity and effectiveness.
