Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our innovative, supportive team in Epping.

The successful candidate will deliver specialist stroke and neurological speech and language therapy as a member of the Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team, providing care to adult patients who have had a recent stroke or are diagnosed with a neurological condition as part of the specialist in-patient service (Beech Ward, St Margarets Hospital) and Early Supported Discharge Team (community). The caseload will include in-patient, domiciliary and clinic based activity, with a focus on stroke rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be based at St Margaret’s Hospital, Epping but will be required to provide services across West Essex.

The successful candidate will deliver person centred, goals-focused assessment and intervention to an adult stroke and neurology caseload, both within the inpatient unit and in patients’ own homes.

The successful candidate will assist in service development, including supervision of more junior colleagues, supporting students on placement, and delivering education and training programmes to the multidisciplinary team.

There are regular opportunities for continuing professional development both within the team and through meetings and engagement with speech and language therapy teams within EPUT and also at PAH. We have access to regular videofluoroscopy clinics at PAH with the plan to develop a jointly run clinic in the near future.
