Job Summary

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced B6 wanting to progress to a B7 or an existing B7 wanting to pursue their clinical interest in Social, Emotional and Mental Health, to join the CAMHS Head2Head Multidisciplinary Team within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. This clinical role requires a high level of clinical expertise and understanding of Neurodiversity including Autism and Developmental Language Disorder and an interest in Social and Emotional Mental Health.

The Head2Head team work with Young People who:

Experience First Episode psychosis and At Risk Mental State. Are open to the Youth Justice Service. Have Co-existing substance use difficulties. Display Harmful sexual behaviour.

You will be well supported by and will receive regular clinical supervision with the CAMHS Service Wide Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist, along with support from the specialist and senior colleagues within the MDT.

The Head2Head Team provide an Outreach Model for our CYP across Nottinghamshire inducing Nottingham City, seeing the CYP at home, education setting, and/or the clinic with opportunities for some remote and flexible working.

Main duties of the job

You will be contributing to a multi-disciplinary service supporting children and young people accessing CAMHS. This will include:

Carrying out individual Speech and Language Therapy assessments and produce reports and recommendations for implementing communication reasonable adjustments

Providing specific speech and language therapy interventions to individuals where appropriate

Liaison and advice with families, carers, and health care colleagues in how to support CYP with SLCN with/without neurodevelopmental differences in order to facilitate reasonable adjustments and increased access to services.

SLTs in CAMHS are a core part of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the understanding of the patients communication needs, contributing towards neurodiversity diagnostic assessment and writing neuro-affirming reports, using a neuro affirmative approach to support individuals and people in their lives to understand their neurodevelopmental and communication differences.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NQT competencies achieved, RCLST & HCPC Registered
  • Portfolio of relevant post qualification CPD
  • Recognised SLT Degree/Diploma/Masters
  • Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists

Experience

Essential

  • Complex caseload management with Speech, Language & Communication needs
  • Effective multi disiplinary working
  • Designing & delivering Learning Opportunities for staff

Desirable

  • Experience of supporting students and other staff
  • Leading & Project Management
  • Delivering variety of approaches to SLT services
  • Working with neurodiverse patients

Skills

Essential

  • Empathetic & Psychologically minded
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Well organised , with good reasoning and leadership skills

Desirable

  • Experience of supporting other staff and students
  • Project management to deliver service initiative
  • Experience of working with neuro-diverse young people

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of working with CYP with Speech, Language & Communication needs, autism, mental health diagnoses, attachment or other neurodiversity

  • Knowledge of different assessments and interventions to work with SEMH & Autism
