Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Specialty doctor in Elderly Care to join our friendly and enthusiastic team at the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC). An enthusiastic and forward-thinking Specialty Doctor will work within a supportive team covering North Cumbria.

Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for this post on a part-time basis. Visits can be arranged for candidates and their families in order to appreciate the quality of life our Hospitals and the surrounding area can offer. Applicants must hold valid registration with the GMC.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary but working as an integrated service covering West Cumberland Hospital. The successful applicant will complement our team of existing Consultants, SAS Doctors and Specialist Nurses providing inpatient and outpatient care for patients within Elderly Care and Parkinson’s

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration with GMC and a Licence to practice

Desirable

  • MRCP
  • ALS

Experience

Essential

  • At least four years of post-graduate experience, including 2 years’ experience in Elderly Care, this may include other experience in Elderly Care with other specialties for example General Practice
  • Recent experience at CT1 level or above
  • Experience of Geriatric Medicine at F2 level (or equivalent) or above

Desirable

  • Experience of Acute General Medicine
  • Experience of Movement Disorders
  • Experience of audit / previous publications
  • Experience of working in the NHS

Communication

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written as evidenced by CV / job application and communication skills at interview. Able to conduct effective communication with patients, clinical and non-clinical colleagues.

  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to organise work load efficiently.
  • No probity issues identified.
  • Professional integrity and respect for others. Ability to take responsibility for own action and exhibit a non-judgemental approach.
