Applications are invited to apply for a Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This post typical involves working on a resident on call rota, so depending on agreement, this post would normally exceed the basic 10 PA full-timecontract.
Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital. This allows us to attract, train and retain the best doctors.
There are 15 Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 7 Specialist Trainees and 11 Trust Doctors at registrar level, with 9 trainees and 1 trust doctor at SHO level. There is a 2-tier registrar rota during the day and night. The approximate number of births is around 4000.
Main duties of the job
Working across Obstetrics and Gynaecology you will be supported in developing your skills covering a range of elective and emergency activities. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in teaching both under and postgraduate students associated with the University of Buckingham and will also be expected to support colleagues doing these activities as part of his or her arranged job plan. - Medical degree
- Applicants must hold full GMC registration
- MRCOG Part 2

Experience/Training
Essential
- Adequate experience of the speciality of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to provide effective and safe management of outpatients, elective and emergency patients.
- Ability to manage common obstetric and gynaecological emergencies
- At least 2 years registrar experience
Knowledge

- Appropriate level of clinical knowledge
- Knowledge and application of up-to-date evidence based practice.
Desirable
- IT and Computer Skills

- Experience in management of patients with general obstetric and gynaecological problems
- Understanding of clinical risk management
