We have an exciting opportunity for a band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Speech Therapy team. This post will provide input to our community stroke teams and our adult team community caseloads. This job would suit a newly qualified Speech Therapist, or a Speech Therapist looking for experience working across a varied adult caseload.

Main duties of the job

You will be involved in providing assessment, management and support to patients with a communication and/ or swallowing difficulty, predominantly in community settings including clinics, patients’ own homes and care homes. There is opportunity to work as part of an established stroke multi-disciplinary team in our local community stroke teams.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in SLT recognised by RCSLT
  • Registered member of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Desirable

  • Member of the RCSLT

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with adults with communication difficulties

Desirable

  • Experience of working as a member of a Team
  • Experience of working in a Stroke team

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyse and make informed judgements required for the assessment of clients and selection of appropriate management strategies
  • Knowledge of current national drivers and clinical guidelines, relating to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties
  • Ability to manage own time, prioritise tasks and to work independently
  • Able to demonstrate high level problem solving skills
  • Ability to travel between different locations on a frequent basis in short timescales.
  • Ability to work flexibly within different work environments
