Job Summary

Successful candidates will make an important contribution at a senior registrar level to the clinical management of patients in the urogynaecology department. These patients will often have been referred from other units across the country to take advantage of the expertise and novel treatments on offer at St Mary’s Hospital. St Mary’s provides every investigation and treatment modality for uterovaginal prolapse and urinary incontinence. The training programme follows the subspecialty training guidelines of the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists including laparoscopic continence and prolapse surgery.

There are strong academic and research ties with the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London. The subspecialty trainee will be encouraged to develop research projects, as well as contributing to existing research projects.

In addition there a full on call commitment at 1:9 EWTD which is well supported.

This is an accredited subspecialty training post in Urogynaecology. We at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust are one of 11 centres in the UK. The trainee will be expected to follow the RCOG curriculum for becoming a subspecialist in urogynaecology as well as achieving the CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology unless the candidate has already been awarded this. The trainee will be trained in all aspects of the management and skills required to become a subspecialist in urogynaecology.

 

Main duties of the job

The post involves urogynaecology clinics, urodynamic clinic, operating theatre, pelvic floor clinic involving experience and training in endoanal ultrasound/manometry and research. There will also be 1 in 9 on call for obstetrics and gynaecology at the St Mary’s Hospital site.

A typical weekly timetable will be as follows with an out of hours commitment to general obstetrics & gynaecology (usually a 1:9 rota with a split week on call)

 

Regular meetings: Monthly regional MDT, weekly local MDT committee meetings, monthly management meetings and ad hoc meetings.

  • GMC registered/ licensed Medical Practitioner
  • MRCOG

Language

Academic achievements including research/publications
