Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to an individual with disabilities, assisting them in their daily activities, promoting their independence and accessing the community. Your contributions will make a significant difference in the lives of those you support, ensuring they receive the care and assistance they need in a respectful and dignified manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide support with meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support clients with challenging behaviours.
  • Assist with mobility and heavy lifting as required, ensuring safety at all times.
  • Drive clients to appointments or community activities when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in client condition to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care plans for clients in assisted living or nursing home settings.

Experience

  • Previous experience in senior care, home care, or a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management techniques is advantageous.
  • A background in nursing or relevant healthcare qualifications will be considered a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility needs is essential.
  • A valid driving licence is mandatory for transporting clients as needed.
