Job Overview

A Plus Academy is seeking a committed and passionate GCSE English Language and Literature Teacher to join our growing team. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in GCSE English Language and Literature, following exam board specifications (e.g. AQA, Edexcel).
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student cohort, including EAL learners and those requiring additional support.
• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress regularly.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic excellence and student confidence in reading, writing, and critical analysis.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practice and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour management, and student welfare.

Essential Requirements

• PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with a subject specialism in English.
• Excellent knowledge of the GCSE English Language and Literature curriculum.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to plan, assess, and reflect in line with DfE expectations and best practice.
• A commitment to inclusion and raising achievement for all learners.

Desirable

• Previous experience teaching in a UK secondary school or tuition setting.
• Familiarity with UK exam boards such as AQA or Edexcel.
• Experience supporting learners from multilingual or international backgrounds.
• Enthusiasm for contributing to extracurricular and enrichment activities.
